A line of soldiers, a pendulum walking past their stiff faces. The clicking of a heel as methodic as a metronome. The sound echoed through the empty halls of the empty room. The vinyl tiling clicked beneath every step.
“Out there are death row inmates rioting. They will get death. Either today, or on their due date. Let’s be efficient, and finish it for them. Do you understand me? A wonderful Wednesday morning, the sun peeking through the slatted windows, bathing the dull blue walls in stripes of light. No birds were to be heard this morning, but the distant hum of cars woke the small townhouse up. The dust illuminated by the morning rays, each acting as a small little sun to the eyes of the sleeping angel, barely open, preparing herself for the day to come.
